Lotus discolor merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Nigeria hingga Ethiopia dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Lotus discolor pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Ernst Heinrich Friedrich Meyer pada tahun 1836.
