Lotus schoelleri merupakan tumbuhan menahun atau semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di kawasan tropis Afrika bagian timur dan timur laut. Nama ilmiah Lotus schoelleri pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Georg August Schweinfurth pada tahun 1896.
