Lotus tetraphyllus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Baleares. Nama ilmiah Lotus tetraphyllus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1774.
