Lupinus aureus merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Peru selatan. Nama ilmiah Lupinus aureus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jacob Georg Agardh pada tahun 1835.
