Lupinus citrinus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah California. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan orangeflower lupine. Nama ilmiah Lupinus citrinus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Albert Kellogg pada tahun 1877.
