Lycianthes acidochondra merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika tengah hingga Kolombia barat. Nama ilmiah Lycianthes acidochondra pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Friedrich August Georg Bitter pada tahun 1919.
