Lycianthes profunderugosa merupakan tumbuhan perdu dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kolombia hingga Ekuador. Nama ilmiah Lycianthes profunderugosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Friedrich August Georg Bitter pada tahun 1919.
