Machaerium chiapense merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko selatan hingga Belize. Nama ilmiah Machaerium chiapense pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Townshend Stith Brandegee pada tahun 1924.
