Machilus kobu adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Lauraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ogasawara-shoto hingga Kazan-retto. Nama ilmiah Machilus kobu diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Maximowicz pada tahun 1886.
