Maclura tinctoria merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Moraceae (suku ara-araan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan fustictree. Nama ilmiah Maclura tinctoria pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis David Don pada tahun 1830.
