Madhuca cochinchinensis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Sapotaceae (suku sawo-sawoan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kamboja hingga Vietnam Selatan. Nama ilmiah Madhuca cochinchinensis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jean Baptiste Louis Pierre pada tahun 1925.
