Maesa welwitschii merupakan tumbuhan perdu atau pohon dari famili Primulaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh menjalar. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kamerun hingga Tanzania barat laut dan Angola. Nama ilmiah Maesa welwitschii diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Ernest Friedrich Gilg pada tahun 1895.
