Malacothamnus hallii merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah California barat-tengah. Nama ilmiah Malacothamnus hallii pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Alice Eastwood pada tahun 1951.
