Mallotus sumatranus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Sumatra Selatan, Kalimantan. Nama ilmiah Mallotus sumatranus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel pada tahun 1963.
