Mallotus tetracoccus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari anak benua India hingga China (Yunnan barat daya) dan Indo-China. Nama ilmiah Mallotus tetracoccus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama William Roxburgh pada tahun 1873.
