Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Texas hingga Meksiko. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan wax mallow. Nama ilmiah Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama John Torrey pada tahun 1942.
