Mapania palustris merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah. Nama ilmiah Mapania palustris diperkenalkan oleh Justus Carl Hasskarl pada tahun 1880.
