Maranta cristata merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Marantaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Brazil timur. Nama ilmiah Maranta cristata diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1823.
