Matayba apetala adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Sapindaceae (suku lerak-lerakan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko selatan, Amerika tengah, hingga Karibia. Nama ilmiah Matayba apetala diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama August Heinrich Rudolf Grisebach pada tahun 1879.
