Medicago arborea merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa selatan hingga Türkiye. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan moon trefoil. Nama ilmiah Medicago arborea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
