Parijoto merupakan tumbuhan hemiepifit dari famili Melastomataceae yang tumbuh dalam bentuk perdu atau pohon. Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Medinilla magnifica ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Filipina (Luzon). Nama ilmiah Medinilla magnifica pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Lindley pada tahun 1850.
