Medinilla venosa merupakan tumbuhan epifit dari famili Melastomataceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Filipina hingga Maluku. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan holdtight. Nama ilmiah Medinilla venosa diperkenalkan oleh Carl Ludwig Blume pada tahun 1831.
