Megastachya mucronata merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika dan Afrika Selatan, Madagaskar. Nama ilmiah Megastachya mucronata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jean Louis Marie Poiret pada tahun 1812.
