Senggani merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Melastomataceae. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan asian melastome. Nama ilmiah Melastoma candidum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis David Don pada tahun 1823.
