Melica torreyana merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah California. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan torrey's melicgrass. Nama ilmiah Melica torreyana pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Frank Lamson Scribner pada tahun 1885.
