Melinis tomentosa adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Angola. Nama ilmiah Melinis tomentosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Alfred Barton Rendle pada tahun 1899.
