Melocactus violaceus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan sukulen berbentuk perdu kecil dari famili Cactaceae (suku kaktus-kaktusan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil timur laut (hingga Minas Gerais timur laut). Nama ilmiah Melocactus violaceus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Louis (Ludwig) Karl Georg Pfeiffer pada tahun 1835.
