Melochia villosa merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis dan subtropis Amerika . Nama ilmiah Melochia villosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Philip Miller pada tahun 1926.
