Mentzelia nitens merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Loasaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari California hingga Nevada. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan shining blazingstar. Nama ilmiah Mentzelia nitens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Edward Lee Greene pada tahun 1891.
