Menyanthes trifoliata merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Menyanthaceae yang dapat tumbuh di media yang tergenang air (helofit). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di kawasan beriklim sedang dan subarktik belahan bumi utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan buckbean. Nama ilmiah Menyanthes trifoliata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1753.
