Mezilaurus ita-uba merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Lauraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kolombia tenggara hingga Venezuela selatan dan Bolivia utara. Nama ilmiah Mezilaurus ita-uba pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Daniel Friedrich Meissner pada tahun 1892.
