Microstegium petiolare merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Himalaya hingga China (Yunnan). Nama ilmiah Microstegium petiolare pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Bernhard von Trinius pada tahun 1938.
