Mimosa quitensis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kolombia barat hingga Ekuador. Nama ilmiah Mimosa quitensis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama George Bentham pada tahun 1842.
