Monochaetum expansum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Melastomataceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kolombia (Norte de Santander, Santander). Nama ilmiah Monochaetum expansum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Henry Allan Gleason pada tahun 2015.
