Monotagma laxum merupakan tumbuhan epifit dari famili Marantaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Amerika selatan. Nama ilmiah Monotagma laxum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Eduard Friedrich Poeppig pada tahun 1902.
