Muhlenbergia tenuiflora merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada bagian timur hingga Amerika Serikat bagian utara-tengah dan timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan slimflower muhly. Nama ilmiah Muhlenbergia tenuiflora pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Ludwig von Willdenow pada tahun 1888.
