Nabalus albus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada hingga Amerika Serikat. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan white rattlesnakeroot. Nama ilmiah Nabalus albus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis William Jackson Hooker pada tahun 1833.
