Nicotiana tomentosa merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari Peru. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan tobacco. Nama ilmiah Nicotiana tomentosa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Hipólito Ruiz López pada tahun 1799.
