Nigella hispanica merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Ranunculaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Eropa barat daya. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan spanish fennel. Nama ilmiah Nigella hispanica pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1753.
