Ocotea sassafras merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Lauraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais). Nama ilmiah Ocotea sassafras pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Daniel Friedrich Meissner pada tahun 1889.
