Ononis sicula merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mediterania hingga Iran dan Somalia utara. Nama ilmiah Ononis sicula pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Giovanni Gussone pada tahun 1821.
