Onopordum illyricum subsp. cardunculus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari wilayah sepanjang Sicilia, Semenanjung Balkan hingga Suriah. Nama ilmiah Onopordum illyricum subsp. cardunculus diperkenalkan oleh Pierre Edmond Boissier pada tahun 1942.
