Osbeckia chinensis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Melastomataceae yang memiliki siklus hidup semusim (annual). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan Asia tropis dan subtropis hingga Australia utara. Nama ilmiah Osbeckia chinensis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
