Osmitopsis afra merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Provinsi Cape. Nama ilmiah Osmitopsis afra pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Kåre Bremer pada tahun 1972.
