Oxalis thelyoxys merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Oxalidaceae (suku belimbing-belimbingan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kuba hingga Hispaniola. Nama ilmiah Oxalis thelyoxys pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Wilhelm Olbers Focke pada tahun 1889.
