Paepalanthus hydra merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Eriocaulaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Minas Gerais selatan-tengah). Nama ilmiah Paepalanthus hydra pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Wilhelm Otto Eugen Ruhland pada tahun 1903.
