Paepalanthus tortilis adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu kecil dari famili Eriocaulaceae yang memiliki siklus hidup semusim (annual). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Selatan bagian utara hingga Brazil. Nama ilmiah Paepalanthus tortilis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis August Gustav Heinrich von Bongard pada tahun 1863.
