Palaquium oleosum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Sapotaceae (suku sawo-sawoan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Sumatra. Nama ilmiah Palaquium oleosum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama William Burck pada tahun 1886.
