Panicum hirsutum merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Texas selatan hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Nama ilmiah Panicum hirsutum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Olof Peter Swartz pada tahun 1797.
