Panicum malacotrichum merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Madagaskar. Nama ilmiah Panicum malacotrichum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Ernst Gottlieb von Steudel pada tahun 1854.
